All possible measures being taken to find 17 missing Hajjis: Sardar Yousaf

ISLAMABAD: All the possible measures are being taken to find 17 missing Hajjis of Pakistan. After infamous incident of stampede in Mina, government of Pakistan established emergency information desks points to provide information regarding their loved ones injured or martyred.

This was stated by Federal minister of Religious Affair and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf in an exclusive interview to Sardar Khan Niazi in Roze News popular program Sachi Baat. He said that all the possible measures were being taken to provide heath care facilities to the injured Hajjis. Answering a question regarding mismanagement of providing information regarding affected Hajjis, he said that ministry wanted to provide authentic information which caused delay. While telling the exact numbers he said that 100 Pakistanis have been martyred, 47 were injured and 17 Pakistani Hajjis are still missing and ministry is in contact with officials of Saudi Arabia in this regard. He said that after unprecedented incident of stampede it was a bit hard to find out all the Pakistani Hajjis. He also disclosed that one lakh and forty three thousand Hajjis from Pakistan went to perform Hajj.

While answering another question that why the dead bodies of Hajjis were not brought back to country, Federal Minister said that according to the agreement in case of death of any Hajji, body would be buried in Saudi Arabia. He said that Saudi Arabia has not announced any sort of compensation for the martyred Hajjis, but government of Pakistan has announced five lakh for the family of each martyr and one lakh for injured ones. He also said that we could not term Mina tragedy as mismanagement because Saudi Arabia manages Hajj in an excellent way, tragedy was unfortunate.
