Patriot Web Desk: Liverpool Chief executive Ian Ayre has flown to Florida in a bid to sign Brazilian midfielder Alex Teixeira where Shakhtar Dontesk are at a winter training camp and played a friendly with Corinthians. Liverpool value Teixeira at around £25million which equates to just over 30m euros. However Shakhtar want at least £39m for their prized asset(50m euros).
Chelsea were also keen on signing Teixeira, 26, but were put away by the asking price and have instead targeted Teixeira’s country-mate Pato in a £7m deal. Liverpool are currently struggling for goals with Christian Benteke yet to impress, Divock Origi has shown promise but remains injured, Daniel Sturridge has also featured sparingly due to his continued injury problems whereas summer signing Danny Ings out for the rest of the season.
