MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has presented over 73.5 billion rupees budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 in the Legislative Assembly on Friday.
Speaker Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan presided over the session. Minister for Finance and Development, Chaudhary Latif Akbar presented the budget having an allocation of Rs. 62 billion for current expenditure while an amount of Rs. 12 billion for development schemes. He said that government employees will get increase in their salaries and pensions as par with the federal government’s employees.
While presenting the budget in the Legislative Assembly AJK Minister for Finance Chaudhry Latif Akbar has said that government of Pakistan People’s Party is presenting its 5th and last budget and much attention has been given to welfare of poor people. He has said that development budget has been increased which will put positive impact on the annual development program of the government.
He said total expenditure has been estimated Rs 61.5 billion while total income has been estimated as Rs 43.7 billion.
He said Rs19 billion has been earmarked for education, Rs5 billion has been allocated for health, Rs3 billion set aside for communication and Rs6 billion allocated for power sector.
Earlier, AJK Cabinet chaired by AJK PM Chaudhry Abdul Majeed approved the Rs73.5 billion budget for 2016-17.
