ISLAMABAD (INP) Allama Iqbal Open University will expand its infrastructural network in Punjab to cover the growing number of students and facilitate them at their door-step.

This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor, AIOU Prof. Dr. Ali Asgar Chishti while speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed building ‘Academic Block’ at the Regional Campus, Lahore.

This new academic block at Lahore will be named “Azadi Block” as its inauguration was earlier scheduled to take place on August 14 but due to the prevailing political crises in the country, it couldn’t be inaugurated on the day of independence.

The new block has been equipped with latest state-of-the-art technology including computer labs, workshop halls/class rooms with video conferencing facility, exams halls, digital library etc.

Dr. Chishti said that AIOU has 44-Regional Campuses across the country, out of that the Lahore campus is the biggest because of its students’ enrollment ratio which is growing day by day. So the University has decided to expand its infrastructural network in Punjab, particularly in Lahore city.

Additional building, he said will be constructed in Lahore city for that the University was looking forward for suitable land. In this connection the University requested the Government of Punjab to allocate/donate a land to facilitate the students.

On the occasion, Dr. Chishti announced that the University will provide all possible facilities to the flood affected people as it did for the IDPs students of North Waziristan.

Dr. Nowshad, Registrar AIOU said that we are engaged in serving the nation and trying our level best to provided all possible facilities to the students residing in every nook and corner of the country. He said tutors and students were the real assets of the University.
