ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will provide soft-copies of text books to its students across the country in order to facilitate them in learning process.
An action plan to this effect will be gradually implemented, this was decided at the regional directors’ meeting held here through video conferencing. It was decided that all possible efforts will be made for timely availability of books to the students.
However, as an alternate measure, the University will also put soft copies of the books on internet so that they could prepare their assignments within scheduled time.
The meeting, presided over by the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui also decided that online learning process will be expedited. Soft copies of B.Ed program has already been put on the University’s website. The plan will be implemented through a gradual process.
Dr. Shahid Sididiqui said the students of the higher classes (M.Phil and PhD ) will get their study material through electronic or digital devices (CDC) instead of the books form.
It was also decided that the aspiring candidates will be facilitated to get them enrolled in the on-admissions that will last till March 5. Prospects’ sale points will be set up at main public places at Tehsil and District levels.
The 44-regional offices will implement a publicity plan to keep the people informed about the admission process. The plan is aimed at bringing maximum number of people into educational net. The University students’ enrolment already reached to over 1.3 million.
The regional directors were advised to give priority in addressing students’ related matters. `Help Desk’ will also be set up in the regional offices to assist the students in the admission matters.
The meeting was also participated by the senior academicians Dr. Samina Awan, Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas, Dr. Mohyuddin Hashmi, Director Regional services Dr. Arif Saleem Arif and Director Admissions Syed Ziaul Hasnain. INP
