The federal cabinet is currently deliberating legal actions following the Supreme Court’s thorough ruling on the contentious dismissal of the no-trust vote against then-prime minister Imran Khan by the former National Assembly deputy speaker.
In the suo motu case involving Qasim Suri’s attempt to invoke Article 5 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court rendered a thorough decision. Before voting against Khan could begin on April 3, Suri rejected the vote, calling it “unconstitutional” and supported by “foreign powers.”
However, the SC’s thorough ruling rejected PTI’s allegations of a foreign conspiracy and stated that the courts reach decisions based on evidence, not conjecture.
“Whether the stated acts attract Article 6 of the Constitution (high treason) is also left open to be determined by the Parliamentarians as to whether they leave open the doors for such unconstitutional acts or take suitable measures to stop such like mess in future,” reads an additional note in Justice Mazahar Alam Khan Miankhel’s decision.
