AMRITSAR/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Delhi, Abdul Basit, urged Afghanistan as well as other countries to unite to fight terrorist outfits such as the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Speaking to media personnel at the Heart of Asia conference, Abdul Basit said that mere allegations would not stop the violence that was raging across Afghanistan.
“Afghanistan and other countries should stop the activities of the TTP unitedly,” he said. “Blaming Pakistan will not solve problems,” he added. Abdul Basit said that National Security Adviser to Prime Minister of India Ajit Doval and Sartaj Aziz met and spoke casually. Speaking on the issue of occupied Kashmir, Abdul Basit said that it was the reason for tensions between India and Pakistan. He hoped that both nations would resolve tensions through negotiations.
“Pakistan’s demand for negotiations must not be considered its weakness,” he said. “The issue of Kashmir should be resolved according to the aspirations and wishes of the people of Kashmir,” he added. INP
