Lahore: Federal Minister and top PML-N official Javed Latif announced on Monday that after a protracted absence, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in September to stand up for “the people.”

Latif stated during a press conference with PML-N Punjab spokeswoman Azma Bukhari that the “doctors” had made their choice and Nawaz will comply with their request.

“With time, the doctors’ opinions shift. People are his medical professionals, and the country has declared that Nawaz Sharif should return “said Latif.Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2018 by an accountability court in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference.

He was also given a total of 11 years in prison and fined £8 million (about Rs1.3 billion) in the Avenfield Properties reference.
After delaying his sentence in 2019, the Lahore High Court (LHC) then gave Nawaz permission to receive medical treatment overseas. He left the country on November 19, 2019, for London, and hasn’t been back since.

After PTI Chairman Imran Khan alleged during his speech to his party’s jalsa in Lahore that a plot was being developed to remove him from the Toshakhana and forbade funding lawsuits to facilitate Nawaz’s return from London, Latif made his allegation.
