A motivational victory

We congratulate Pakistan cricket team for the first and very significant win of the world cup 2015. It was a do or die match for both the teams. Victory kept the hopes of Pakistan’s quarter-final alive, while Zimbabwe’s journey of the world cup to remain till group stage matches.

Although Pakistan grabbed the first win but it was not a comprehensive victory against a team we had a 42-3 head-to-head record. Usually a victory puts curtain to the weaknesses of a team but management of our cricket team has a lot to improve to overcome the weak points of the team ahead of the crucial matches.

A genuine wicket keeper is required to put full stop to the dilemma of drop catches behind the stumps. Umar Akmal makeshift wicket keeper has dropped catches in all the three matches Pakistan has played so far. Inclusion of Sarfaraz Ahmed will not only solve the issue of lacking genuine wicket keeper but will also solve the problem of opening slot considering poor form of Nasir Jamshed. For the third time in three matches, Pakistan’s batting let them down. Courtesy to the sensible innings of Misbah else it could be very hard to play the quota of 50 overs. Ahead of the remaining three vital matches our team has to improve fielding skills.  Batsmen must work it out not to throw their wickets at crucial stages, after passing the hard time at the cease.

Prior to this match Pakistan had lost two matches and there were talks of widespread nepotism, favourtism in the Pakistan Cricket Board. Concerned authorities of PCB must take the criticism to mend their ways and process of improvement must continue. We wish the best of luck to our team for the upcoming matches and hope our boys would bring many more chances of joy to the cricket-crazy nation.
