Karachi: Sindh Minister of Energy, Planning and Development Nasir Hussain Shah has said that a large discovery of gas and condensate has been made in Shahbandar area of Sajawal district.
Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that Sindh Energy Holding Company (Pvt) Limited (SEHCL) is our joint venture partner and is interested in working on 2.5% in Shah Bandar block.
He said Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) acts as the operator with 63 percent majority stake, Mari Petroleum Company Limited and Government Holdings (Pvt) Limited (GHPL) hold 32 percent and 2.5 percent respectively. The percentage is working.
The Patiji-6 well was drilled on October 11, 2024. The well was drilled to a depth of 2,475 meters for upper sand hydrocarbons in the Lower Goro Formation, Nasir Hussain Shah said.
He said that after the exploration of the well, the excavation has fulfilled our hope.
According to the provincial minister, 11.7 million cubic feet of gas and 198 barrels per day (bpd) of condensate are being released per day.
He said the results have been obtained at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 2578 psi and the well discovery highlights the hydrocarbon potential of Sindh’s Shahbandar block.
Congratulating Sindh and especially Sajawal, Nasir Hussain Shah said that the discovery of gas is a step forward in strengthening the country’s energy resources, hoping that more exploration and development activities will continue in the block.
