Politics, if defined literally is the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations between individuals, such as the distribution of resources or status. Further, it is a source of streamlining the societies for achieving specific targeted goals which help in the growth of societies as a whole.
In other words, politics can be dubbed with a positive practice where people use their own strategies and tactics to deal with their issues, ensuring the reinforcement of the ethical principles to avoid any sort of damage and division. Moreover, it helps the masses to learn from each other, acknowledge each other and respect the views of every single person and group having different notions.
However, in recent times, we have witnessed a speedy growing hatred among the individuals and parties in the field of politics, and have experienced a wave of intolerance damaging the structure of that particular in particular and the society in general. The blame games, ignorance, and rejection of each other for the sake of personnel gains have maligned the whole political process.
As compared to the past, media, particularly, social media is very fast these days where nothing can be hidden and the travel of information is so rapid, which multiplies the growing hatred between the political parties. Let us not forget that the political parties themselves have started this bad deed by using social media as a tool to defame their opposition, either it is in the time of elections or under normal circumstances.
This whole scenario can be accepted though it is ethically wrong but can be termed as a political practice or competition among the parties, and politicians do this as well for their gains. However, if you are dragging the state institutions to the politics and making them controversial, then it is not acceptable at any cost. The justification for this statement is that these institutions are not the property of a particular political party but the asset of this nation. Playing with and damaging the dignity of the institutions will damage the trust and confidence of the masses in the institutions which is a risk for the sovereignty of the state.
Politicians and political parties must realize that for any specific issue there are certain platforms for the resolution of that particular issue. Let’s take the example of the audio leak associated with the former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar which has a direct impact on the judicial system of the country. In cases like this, the political parties including the government and opposition, instead of opting for media trials must go for legal solutions, which will be in favor of the state institutions and the masses as well. It is better to avoid the politics of scandals and sit down for national cause which is the prime responsibility of the politicians. And in case of disrespecting the judicial system, the honorable courts must also intervene at their earliest so that the trust of masses in state institutions must not be damaged.
