RAWALPINDI: Certificate Distribution Ceremony of the Course “Politics of Human Development” was held at Fatima Jinnah Women University. The course was run in collaboration with Wellesley College, American Institute of Pakistan Studies and Akhter Hameed Khan Resource Centre (AHKRC). Professor Dr. Samina Amin Qadir, Vice Chancellor was the chief guest of the ceremony. Students of different departments participated in this course, interacted with instructors and their fellows through video conferencing. Basic objective of this course was to build a bridge between students of various regions and to learn and share their ideas and knowledge with each other. During the course renowned human right activist and social developer shared their experiences and the work that they have done in the field of human development. Issues related to human development were also discussed and critically analyzed by the students in the light of theoretical knowledge.
Vice Chancellor along with Ms. Fakhra Khanam, Chief Executive AHKRC distributed the certificates among participants of the course and appreciated their active learning and outcome. Vice Chancellor hoped that such courses will be continue in future and would promote interaction among the students. Moreover, on the same day University has organized lecture on “Community Development and Initiative for Women” in collaboration with AKHRC and Research & Development Solutions (RADS). Dr. Golam Matbour, resource person, delivered thought provoking lecture on this topic. Speaking on the occasion he said that we need to empower rural community to bring change in the society because without their involvement no plan would be successful. He discussed dimensions of empowerment in detail and highlighted the importance of people participation in development. We need to utilize people resources, talents to cope up with the challenges and to bring economical change, he added. He emphasized upon connectivity as connectivity is productivity.
