PM, CEC, politicians condemn DI Khan attack

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (Retd) Justice Nasirul Mulk has condemned the suicide attack on Former minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Sardar Ikram Khan Gandapur and has expressed sorrow and grief over the incident.

The prime minister also expressed sympathies with family and relatives of martyred Ikramullah Khan.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza has expressed sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of the PTI candidate for PK-99. In a statement, he expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.

Condemning the incident, the chief election commissioner sought a report from caretaker chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, IG police and chief secretary.

Caretaker Interior Minister Muhammaz Azam Khan also condemned the suicide attack. He expressed sorrow and deep grief over the incident.

The caretaker interior minister expressed sympathies with family and relatives of martyred Ikramullah Khan Gandapur.

Azam Khan said the nation should stand united to eliminate the menace of terrorism from motherland. He also said peaceful conduct of elections will be made at every cost.

PTI chief Imran Khan condemned “the cowardly terrorist attack against Ikram Khan Gandapur and his convoy”.

Senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement said, ” I am deeply grieved to know about the martyrdom of PTI’s candidate in a terrorist attack in D I Khan. Terrorist attacks during election campaign raises question mark on caretaker government’s performance. Extra security should be given to all candidates.”

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Ikramullah Gandapur and his driver and sympathized with the members of bereaved families.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif said, “I am grieved to learn about the martyrdom of Ikramullah Gandapur. Spread of violence ahead of the national polls is truly ominous. Where are the ECP and caretaker govt? My profound condolences to the family of martyr and PTI on my behalf and that of the PML-N.” NNI
