KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Environment Muhammad Ali Malkani along with President Cantonment Board Malir Brigadier Waseem Bhatti, CEO Malir Sardar Arif and DG Livestock Akbar Soomro and others formally inaugurated the Asia’s biggest Cattle Mandi comprising 1200 acres land at Super Highway.
Minister Livestock Muhammad Ali Malkani speaking on the occasion said that the provincial Sindh is promoting the livestock, agriculture, fisheries, poultry and other sectors to boost them properly. The Mandi has also help to promote the agriculture economy and other sectors at grass root level. We are trying to perform our religious obligations and provide all required assistance to the traders and cattle farmers.
He said that from all over the country, animals brought to Karachi for the purpose of Eid ul Azha, it is honour and pride for all of us to facilitate them properly. Large number of traders came here to boost the economic importance of the city. He offered his full cooperation and said that the Provincial as well as City Government have been cooperating and providing assistance to the Mandi Administration to provide all required help and facilities to the traders in the Mandi since very first day.
The Minister Livestock appreciated the efforts of Mandi Administration in short time established biggest cattle mandi for the people of Karachi adding that all issues if any would be resolved on priority and people could get relief in this regard.
Muhammad Ali Malkani said that the Livestock Department Sindh is providing free Medical treatment to the Animals in the Mandi. 12 Veterinary doctors, para medical staff and field teams are continuously from day one since last ten days day and night to facilitate the traders and treat their animals properly to avoid any viral disease etc. Awareness literature/material are being provided to them to promote their animals.
On the occasion President Malir Cantonment Board Brigadier Waseem Bhatti also spoke and apprised that in short span, the Mandi had established with the help of provincial and city governments and other law enforcing agencies, it has been fulfilled the difficult task and achieved the desired result of the establishing Mandi for the people of Karachi, who will perform their religious duty during Eid ul Azha.
Mandi Administrator Syed Irshad Ahmed also informed the arrangements and steps to establish Mandi with the help of Provincial and City Governments.
Later the Minister Livestock Muhammad Ali Malkani, Brig Waseem Bhatti, Sardar Atif, Dr. Akbar Soomro witnessed the cattle cat walk show and presented the shields among 22 cattle farmers and traders.
Also the Minister Livestock Muhammad Ali Malkani visited the Livestock medical / veterinary camp inquired about the facilities provided by the Department during the Mandi. Director Dr. Abdul Qadir Junejo briefed him about treatment, facilities and progress of the field teams till the end of Mandi after Eid ul Azha.
