ISLAMABAD: The government is serious in promoting the professional development of native & regional languages. This was stated by Special Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage, Irfan Siddiqui, while addressing ceremony organized to mark the International Day of mother tongues of Pakistan at the Academy of Letters. He was the chief guest at the event. The representatives of the Pakistani languages & writers from across the country delivered their lectures about the day.
‘The Government is trying to play a role in the promotion of mother tongues in the light of literature oriented feedback and suggestions’. Irfan Siddiqui added.
‘The rise and fall of the languages remain an active process in the world. The world has become a global village and only the languages and culture that have the ability and strength will remain’.
‘In addition to support from the government, mother languages can be promoted at the social level by arranging seminars to highlight the literature of these languages. Mother languages make their own way and cannot be moderated in any way. They develop with the emotions and sentiments in the society’. He added that the government is also serious in ensuring that Urdu is used as the official language and this regard a 20-point agenda has been sent to the Prime Minister.
