Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali has claimed that Islamic State has no existence in Pakistan but many other terrorist groups have been fueling terror in the country by wearing the mask of IS. He said that the IS is present in North Africa and Middle East but it does not exist in Pakistan.
When it comes to the point of presence of IS in the country, it seems there is evident communication gab at the highest level. Because there have been conflicting claims on official level about the presence of Daesh in the country and the threat this Middle Eastern terrorist organisation poses to Pakistan.
Intelligence Bureau Director-General Aftab Sultan has testified before a Senate committee that hundreds of fighters from Pakistan were joining self-styled militant organisation, Daesh, in Syria. He said banned outfits, namely Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba are reorganising themselves, with presence of Dai’sh (Islamic State) more prominent than before. IB chief said that all local militant groups including Lashker-e-Jhangvi and Sipaha-e-Sihaba have a soft corner for Daesh. The other day DG ISPR Lt-General Asim Bajwa revealed that a nexus amongst IS, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) has been broken up in Karachi and Hyderabad.
If it’s a fact that local terrorist outfits are using name of IS and pledging allegiance to it, how is shows that there is no presence of IS in our country? It seems the Minister is getting the calculations wrong here. We all know that IS may not be present in out country in the same shape as it is in the Middle East, but there are serious threats. We should utilize all possible means to eradicate the possible expansion of terrorist group in our country instead of claiming all is well.
We should put a stop to possible expansion of IS instead claiming all is well.
