RAWALPINDI: The poor condition of the roads with in garrison city had made driving there a misery for drivers, and the recent rainy season exposed the shortcomings of local government.

Since they haven’t been fixed for years, the roadways inside the garrison city are now dangerous.

Roads have acquired potholes as a result of the monsoon rainfall, endangering commuters.
The majority of the damaged roads were Kashmiri Road, Range Road, Allahabad Road, Tench Bhatta, Zakria Masjid, Transit Camp, Dhoke Ratta, Workshop, Marrir Chowk, Rawal, Westridge Bazaar, Gowalmandi, Farooq-i-Azam, Sadiqabad, and Railway Roads.

Due to the numerous potholes on cantonment roads, which cause traffic jams in multiple locations, drivers find it challenging to travel on these roads. Even public transportation vehicles have trouble navigating these roads, and cab drivers won’t venture downtown.

For instance, ditches have formed on the roads between Marrir Chowk to Gawalmandi, Westridge Bazaar to Allahabad, Kashmir Road, and other routes. Open manhole covers in the middle of the road in several locations, such as Gowalmandi and Nogaza Road, are also dangerous for commuters.

The scenario has upset the downtown locals, who have asked the provincial administration to carry out its promise to start public benefit initiatives.
