In Mathews’ 100th Test, Sri Lanka chooses to bat against Pakistan

Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne wins the toss and decides to bat first against Pakistan.

GALLE: On Sunday, in the historic 100th Test for former captain Angelo Mathews, Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and decided to bat against Pakistan.

At the outset of the second Test in Galle, Mathews, 35, was honoured by Sri Lanka Cricket as the hosts attempt to recover from their initial defeat in the two-match series.

Young left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage is playing in his first Test while Asitha Fernando, a quick bowler, is back after a COVID recovery.
