Haleem Adil Sheikh, the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, was placed under unlawful custody by the Lahore High Court (LHC), who also granted him protective bail till July 18 and ordered his immediate release.
According to party leaders and his daughter Ayesha Haleem, Sheikh, a key PTI figure, was detained in Lahore on Tuesday night and taken to an undisclosed location. It had been shown on CCTV that guys in plain clothing had taken Sheikh into custody.
The MPA didn’t put up any protest and silently followed the men, as seen in the video. Later, the opposition leader’s personnel secretary requested that Punjab’s inspector general of police, the provincial government, and other parties be included as respondents in a petition to the LHC through attorney Amir Saeed Rawn.
The prosecutor presented the case file when the accused was brought before Justice Baqir Najafi. The judge looked over it and inquired as to whether there was any proof that the detectives had arrived to apprehend the defendant. The judge stated, “I do not find any document among the papers supplied.”
