Over forty world leaders linked arms leading hundreds of thousands of French citizens in an unprecedented march under high security to pay tribute to victims of militant attacks. President of France Hollande said “Paris is today the capital of the world. Our entire country will rise up and show its best side,”. Seventeen people, including journalists and police, were killed in three days of violence that began with a shooting attack on the weekly Charlie Hebdo known for its satirical attacks on Islam. In Pakistan, over sixty thousand lives have been taken by the monster of terrorism, but still we are criticized for not taking the terrorists with iron hands. It is the weakness of the politicians and also of our ambassadors in other countries, perhaps they are unable to make rest of the world realize that we are a nation suffered most after 9/11.
Forget the others; we as a nation are unable to bring the nation on one page when it comes to fight terror. Some political religious parties are raising voices against the 21st amendment that has provided cover to the military courts. When our political leaders would understand that it is a time of urgency? We have already rendered great sacrifices, how many more Peshawar massacre like incidents would make us realize the sensitivity of the situation? At a time when rival countries are conspiring against us to isolate us in the world, our political leaders have failed to sense the urgency of the circumstances. It is the need of the hour that all political parties should stand united, brushing aside all their differences, against the terrorism. Only then we would be able to make the world understand that we are a nation suffered most by terrorism and world must support us to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
