UNITED NATIONS – Pakistan’s UN Ambassador, Munir Akram, told a visiting 15-member Pakistani National Defence University (NDU) team on Thursday that the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, peace in Afghanistan, development challenges, and climate change are among Islamabad’s top objectives.

During a meeting with the group, which included senior officers from Pakistan’s Armed Forces and Civil Service, as well as allied officers from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Akram made the statement.

Various topics, notably those linked to the UN’s fundamental three pillars: peace and security, human rights, and development, were discussed, according to a press statement published by the Mission.

In the face of rapidly changing global dynamics, Ambassador Akram outlined Pakistan’s broad aims at the United Nations. He also emphasised Pakistan’s major activities and accomplishments, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism, UN peacekeeping, UN reforms, and Islamophobia.

Ambassador Akram underlined Pakistan’s commitment to working toward a solution to the Kashmir dispute under the aegis of UN Security Council resolutions.
“Pakistan has always been active at the UN – last year it was President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and this year it is Chairing the Group of 77 and China (developing nations),” he remarked.
