SAHIWAL: Nine persons were killed and more than 35 injured in two separate accidents in Sahiwal and Muzaffargarh on Thursday. In Sahiwal , a speeding bus collided with a truck coming from opposite direction near Sahiwal killing six persons and injuring more than 35.
The ill-fated bus was travelling to Lahore from Sukkur. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital where condition of seven injured persons is stated to be critical.
Drivers of bus and truck were among the dead. Eye-witnesses said that the bus was overloaded and was driven at a very fast speed.
In Muzaffargarh, at least three persons died and another injured in collision between oil tanker and motorcycle on Thursday.
Police said that the accident took place at Jalo Saho Road of Muzaffargarh where an over speeding oil tanker knocked down a motorcycle carrying four people.
Three bike riders died on the spot while another was critically wounded who was rushed to hospital for treatment while the bodies were also handed over to heirs after postmortem.
The police confiscated the oil tanker and after registering a case against the driver who managed to flee from the scene of the accident started raids for his arrest.
