GUJRAT/DADU (INP): Eight members of two families were killed in separate accidents in Gujrat and Dadu in the wee hours of Sunday.
Five persons of the same family were killed when a van collided with a bus in Kunjah area near Gujrat.
According to details, the family was returning on a van to Sialkot from Sargodha after attending a birthday party. Those who died in the accident included Rukhsana Bibi and her seven-year-old son Hasnain Haider, Nazia Bibi and her three-month-old son Ali Haider and Saba Bibi. At least 16 other people, many of them children, also sustained injuries and were shifted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital.
In another accident, at least ten including women were left injured; while husband, wife and son of a family were killed as a result of a collision between a car and a passenger coach near Indus Highway in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to police, the accident took place near Juhi Maur at Indus Highway. Where a passenger coach collided with a car, killing all three members in the car, which included a couple and their seven-year-old son.
The incident also left ten people from the passenger coach severely injured, which included three women. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, while the coach driver was arrested by police. The deceased members of the unfortunate car were supposedly travelling from Dadu to Juhi, whereas the coach was going from Karachi to Larkana, the police reported.
