LAHORE: Three suspected terrorists belonging to a banned organization were killed in an encounter with police in Daroghawala area here on Sunday night.
According to sources, Police personnel busted a suspected safe house, in Daroghawala area where suspected terrorists were reported to have been holed up. The outlaws opened fire on the cops giving rise to a fierce gunfight. Three enemies of state were dead at the end of the shootout.
The deceased terrorists were identified as Hafeez, Yasir Mehmood and Rafiq.
Police sources said that Hafeez was involved in attack on Sri Lanka cricket team in Lahore in 2009 while another terrorist was involved in killing a police constable. Qasim Rafique was associated with umbrella Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Punjab wing.
Police official said that Mehmood had a bounty of Rs2 million on his head.
Police also told media persons that they had seized two suicide-bombing vests, explosives, hand grenades, and a couple of AK-47 assault rifles in the raid.
