QUETTA:  Atleast 204 terrorists were killed and 29 were wounded whereas 8326 were detained during 1863 operations carried out by security forces in Balochistan under the National Action Plan (NAP).

According to the report issued by home department, the operations were carried out from December 16, 2014 to September 15, 2015 on tip-off of intelligence agencies. All the detained and killed militants belonged to banned organizations.

The report reveals that more than 3000 weapons of various types and over 2,21,000 bullets were recovered by the security forces. Besides this, the registration of more than 2600 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) was also cancelled in the province.

Apart from that, the process to scrutininze atleast 2500 madrassas and register non-registered madrassas has also been initiated however; 448 are still unregistered. Presently, 19 madrassas in the province are in the watch list of the government.

The report also states that as many as 1,43,446 students including 5258 foreigners are enrolled in the madrassas with most of them belonging to Afghanistan.

In wake of the Peshawar attack, the government launched NAP in January 2015 to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism and to crackdown on the militants.
