LAHORE: A ceremony was held at the martyrs monument of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti at Baidian in Lahore on Sunday which was attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Corps Commander Lahore, senior military officials, veterans of 1965 war and relatives of the martyred soldiers and officers. PM Nawaz Sharif laid a wreath and offered Fateha at the memorial of Maj Aziz Bhatti, who was given the highest military award, the Nishan-i-Haider, for his gallantry. Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed sacrificed his life while defending Pakistani outpost on the strategic BRB Canal. Former Governor Punjab Khalid Maqbool also attended the ceremony besides army officers and notables from the area. The national anthem was played and one-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.
Later, the prime minister met with the family members of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and also the local people. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also visited the residence of martyred Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada in Lahore and condoled with his family members. Prime Minister also offered fateha for the departed soul. He lauded services of Khanzada.
Khanzada was martyred in a terrorist attack in Attock last month.
