Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan has said that the T20 World Cup in 2021 can be moved to the UAE from India as the coronavirus situation in the country might not be viable for the tournament.
With thousands of fresh cases still being reported in India on a daily basis and some states already witnessing a second wave of the virus, Wasim Khan feels India might not be in a position to host the tournament next year.
“There is still some uncertainty over the World T20 being held in India because of the Covid situation there. It could be in UAE,” said Khan.
He also spoke about PCB’s request from the ICC and BCCI to assure visas for their players and support staff if India does end up hosting the 2021 T20 World Cup. The countries have not played any bilateral series since 2013 due to ongoing political tensions.
Wasim Khan confirmed that PCB chief Ehsan Mani has written to the ICC about written confirmation on visas for the Pakistan team for T20 World Cup 2021.
