KARACHI: A total of one hundred and ninety offices of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have been sealed across Karachi within three days while six illegally constructed MQM offices have also been demolished in the city.

On Friday, MQM offices were sealed in Jheel Park and Shah Faisal Colony areas. MQM’s offices in Bhains Colony, Gulshan Maymar, Mosamyat, Sachal, Sukhan, Malik aur Ahsanabad were demolished, as they were set up illegally. The name of Mukka chowk located in the Azizabad area has been changed to ‘Liaqat Ali Khan chowk.’

Meanwhile, the anti-terrorism court on Friday remanded MQM leaders including Kanwar Naveed, Qamar Mansoor, Shahid Pasha and other 37 party activists in police custody for another two days in a case pertaining to anti-Pakistan slogans and attack on media houses in Karachi.

After the end of their physical remand Friday, police produced MQM workers in the court and sought extension in their custody. The administrative judge granted two-day extension in the physical remand of the detained suspects.

Meanwhile, MQM MNA Asif Husnain, who was taken into custody near Karachi airport Thursday was released.
