HYDERABAD: At least seventeen people died and 13 others injured, some among them of same family, after a speedy trailer rammed into a bus carrying wedding-goers on National Highway near Matiari, a district in Sindh province on Monday.
Police said that a bus carrying wedding goers was returning to Hyderabad after attending a wedding ceremony, the driver parked the bus by roadside after one of the tyre of the vehicle burst near Hala on National Highway in Hyderabad. During changing of the wheel an over speeding trailer coming from behind rammed into the bus, leaving 15 dead on the spot.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where two others succumbed to their wounds taking the toll to 17. The deceased include five women and two children, while 5 members of a family among the deceased. Several among the injured were stated to be in critical condition and it was feared that death toll could rise further.
A police official said that efforts are being made to take out three bodies, which are trapped underneath the wreck.
