12 killed in fog-related accidents in Punjab

LAHORE: As many as twelve people lost their lives on Sunday while numerous others were injured in fog-related road mishaps in different areas of Punjab.

Six people of a family were killed when their car plunged into a canal on Shujaabad road near Multan due to dense fog.

The bodies were taken out immediately after the rescue agencies reached the spot.

In another incident, a tractor trolley hit a motorcycle in Vehari, killing two persons on the spot.

Two brothers were crushed to death by a dumper on Sargodha Road near Sillanwali. Four passengers were injured in collision between a bus and tractor trolley in Narowal.

On the other hand, motorway was reopened after overnight closure due to fog.

According to Met Office, foggy conditions are likely to continue over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.

Police has advised drivers to use fog lights and also asked them to avoid unnecessary travel at night and during the fog. Motorway Police has asked the citizens to contact on number 130 in case of any problem during the fog.

Drivers were also reminded to change lanes only after indicating and to leave enough space between vehicles. NNI
