KABUL: At least ten Afghan local police (ALP) including their commander have joined the Taliban in northern Kunduz province, local officials said.
Chahar Dara district Governor Zalmai Farooqi, confirmed the news. “The commander named Yar Mohammad was fighting against the Taliban in Yateem village of Chahar Dara district, but on Wednesday along with nine other local policemen decided to join the Taliban ranks,” Farooqi said. Provincial Deputy Police Chief Sayed Jahangir Keramat says that the commander was fighting against the Taliban, but was not regulated under the local police. The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
This comes after at least six Afghan policemen were killed and one other injured by their colleague with the assistance of the Taliban in an outpost in Trinkot City of Urozgan province on Tuesday.INP
