LAHORE (NNI): Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shehryar Khan vowed on Monday to exemplary punish those proved guilty in ongoing investigation into betting scandal that hit Pakistan Super League 2017 last week.
While addressing a press conference in Gaddafi Stadium, Khan said that Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan have been served show-cause notices after reports of their alleged meeting with suspicious persons following a match on February 9 was reported.
He said that Muhammad Irfan would also be served a notice soon.
Khan announced formation of a disciplinary committee including a senior judge once ongoing investigations are concluded.
PCB chief accredited anti-corruption unit of the cricket authority of Pakistan with exposing the scandal.
Khan warned that no player should think that he would return to the international sport after a ban of two to four years as exemplary punishments would be given.
The statement has come after media reports alleged the two players of spot-fixing on February 10, a day after the opening ceremony of second installment of Pakistan?s successful PSL franchise.
Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have denied the allegations and claimed their innocence.
However, both the players who represent Islamabad United were suspended by the cricket authority of Pakistan until probe?s completion.
