JHANG: The Punjab government has failed to improve the structures of schools at primary level. Government Girls Primary School Sultan Pur District Jhang is an example of bad governance in providing quality education to the poor community of rural areas. Almost 100 enrolled students belonging to poor families are suffering due to unavailability of rooms and furniture. The students are forced to sit on the ground during their study hours in freezing cold weather. Four female teachers were appointed here to impart education to these children of poor families.
The school was established in 1984 with a single room which was declared dangerous for students in 2010. Flood in 2014 badly affected this area and due to standing flood water the room and the boundary wall collapsed. The education department only provided funds for construction of boundary wall but did not provide any funds for rooms. A teacher working at the school told The Patriot that local politicians did not take interest in providing funds for education.
Local Imam Masjid Mohammad Waryam while talking to The Patriot demanded funds for construction of room and provision of furniture. Talking to The Patriot Assistant Director (Budget & Finance) Education Department, Jhang told that budget has been provided by the government for this school and rooms will be constructed in this financial year.
