ISLAMABAD (INP): Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed have jointly demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign from his office to ensure an independent and impartial investigation against the Premier and his family.

They were talking to the media at Lal Haveli in Rawalpindi Friday evening.

Sirajul Haq said that after the verdict of two senior judges of the bench against him, the Prime Minister should have morally offered to step down till he was cleared by the JIT.  But since, there was no such offer by the Premier, the joint opposition had on Friday, called for the resignation of Nawaz Sharif to ensure independent enquiry.

The JI chief further said that the opposition was trying its best for electoral reforms so that the common man could also think of returning to the assembly.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed welcomed the JI chief at his residence and said that he felt greatly honoured. He said that his party was with the JI in its struggle against corruption. He said that all the political parties wanted the Prime Minister to step down before the JIT began its enquiry.

On arrival at Lal Haveli, the JI chief and his delegation was given a rousing welcome.
