ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Monday refused to accept the resignations of lawmakers belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), citing relevant laws.
He was giving a ruling on the resignations tendered by the MQM Senators on the grounds that the party was being “victimized’ in the garb of on-going operation against criminal elements in Karachi.
Rabbani said upon receiving the resignations, National Assembly Speaker and the Senate Chairman must confirm they are tendered voluntarily.
“It seems the resignations have been tendered in protest and in furtherance of a political agenda,” he said
The MQM lawmakers form lower house of the parliament and the Sindh Assembly had also resigned resigned.Agencies
