If memory serves better it was Ayaz Amir. Years back in my university days he raised a crunch question: If Machiavelli comes out of his grave and wants to join politics, which party he will opt for? There were numerous answers to this intriguing question i.e. JUI, PML N, PPP etc. But if Ayaz Amir comes forward this time with the same question the answer is very clear: Bani Gala . The Gentleman shall rush to the town Bani Gala with his desire to join the PPTI.
If lucky enough, on his epic journey he will meet brilliant Firdos Ashiq Awan and then start humming and murmuring like Cuckko of Naya Pakistan : SAAF CHALI SHAFFAF CHALI. But a twist can come to fore in the story when he will meet top leadership of the PPTI. After witnessing his leader discussing the matters mutual interest with khar, Awan, and other snickering patricians of the ruling elite he may change his mind and may decide to go back thinking that two swords can’t be contained in one sheath.
It is really an uphill task to decide whether Mr Khan is more shrewd or more naïve. And naïve he is not for sure. Admittedly the politics is not the game of idealism. It is a practical approach that is called politics. But idealism can’t be ignored as well. There should be a balance between idealism and practical approach. This is idealism that moves your followers and it is your practical approach that steers you towards glory and success. Imran Khan is failed to maintain this balance and this is alarming.
If it is true that a man is known by the company he keeps then the fact cannot be denied that Imran Khan is no more a revolutionary leader, he is simply a politician running for the power. He may succeed in his adventure but can be bring change with these fellows is anybody’s guess.
