KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Thursday expressed serious concern on increase in human rights violations in the country.
PPP MPAs Dr Abdul Sattar Rajpar, Sajid Jokhio and Shamim Mumtaz while expressing serious concern on increase in human rights violations in Pakistan especially in Sindh said the violations especially the killings of political workers in detention of law enforcement agencies and during protest sit-in are a major cause of bringing a bad name to Pakistan across the globe.
In a statement issued from the PPP Media Cell Sindh, the PPP MPAs said that the killing of a political party’s coordinator during custody of the LEAs and killing of a worker of JSQM and injuring two others during their democratic right of protest sit-in would have bad consequiencies, which should be stopped.
Conversely, the killing of a girl by burning her alive on orders of Jirga in Abottabad and many similar incidents that remain un-reported are very shocking. The Jirga in full should be given exemplary punishment.
As far as the killings of political workers in custody and during protest, the LEAs have lost public backing and the LEAs have to struggle a lot to regain the trust of the people, they said adding that the poets, writers, columnists, journalists, intellectuals, lawyers and members of civil society are feeling utmost unrest on these human rights violations and a particular sense is prevailing among them that there is no use of making appeals to the Judges, government or heads of institutions and that such a sense is very dangerous and should be addressed without fail.
They urged upon the heads of all institutions to ensure complete respect of human rights because the entire society is concerned on violations and they want a change. NNI
