People look to Courts when government fails in its duties: Justice Wajihuddin

ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Wednesday said that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar is doing a lot of work adding that he has a lot of respect for the Chief Justice.

Justice (retd) Wajihuddin, who heads the Aam Log Ittehad Party was speaking in Roze News program Sachi Baat with Editor in Chief Pakistan Group of Newspapers and Chairman Roze News Sardar Khan Niazi.

He said that if government doesn’t fulfill its duties, apex court has the right to order the concerned authorities to look into the issues in order to solve them.

He said that it is unfortunate that elected representatives have failed to deliver once again as at the moment it seems no government is functioning at the federal as well as at the provincial levels. He said that incumbent government has increased national debt manifold.

He said that despite the fact that Supreme Court has taken up many important cases, he has concerns regarding few cases. He said that he was not satisfied with the verdict in Hudaibiya case and petition has been submitted to review the decision.

While talking about performance of Punjab government, Justice (retd) Wajihuddin lamented that the Punjab government is dumping untreated water into River Ravi. Labeling it a serious on part of Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, he said that if the same water is allowed into the river after treating it, the water could bring the River Ravi back to life.

While talking about his relations with Imran Khan he said that he enjoys friendly relations with head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. While commenting on third marriage of Imran Khan he said that it is his personal matter and he would congratulate him even if he goes for fourth marriage. He however said that there is no doubt that graph of PTI popularity has come down.
