Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has called upon the Judiciary of his country to pursue issues like Kashmir legally and adopt official position on such international issues. Ayatollah Khamenei made these remarks at a meeting with high ranking members of Iran’s judiciary including Chief Justice, Sadeq Amoli Larijani.
Khamenei has called Iran’s judiciary to take up international issues to speak for Muslims of Myanmar and Kashmir. He said that the Judiciary should intervene from a legal position in such issues as sanctions, US confiscations and come out in support of downtrodden personalities in the world or the Muslims of Myanmar and Kashmir,”. This is the second time that Ayatollah Khamenei has referred to Kashmir in last 10 days. Ayatollah Khamenei, during his Eid-al-Fitr sermon urged the Muslims worldwide to support the people of Kashmir who faced oppression even during the fasting month of Ramadan. He had called on the Islamic community to unite against the “injuries being inflicted on the world of Islam.”
Chairman Huriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani termed statement of Khamenei as timely and pragmatic. Kashmir has also been witnessing chronic ethnic violence and a New Delhi-ordered witch hunt in Indian Held Kashmir. Pakistan has successfully highlighted worldwide Indian atrocities in held Kashmir. Pakistan has urged international community to take notice of the atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian troops and grave human rights violations in the Occupied Kashmir. Pakistan is effectively highlighting Kashmir issue and violation of human rights in the valley by Indian forces on all international forums. Indian’s stubbornness has jeopardized the regional peace. Some world powers have offered their role in resolution of Kashmir dispute. But India does not want any mediation through global powers to resolve Kashmir issue. India wants the hegemony and dominance in the region.
International community, institutions and influential personalities should be urged to use their influence and asked to support people of J&K in their struggle against forced occupation. Pakistan should welcome statement from Iran’s supreme leader regarding struggle of people of Kashmir and should also convince other major powers of the world to speak up against Indian atrocities in Kashmir.
Pakistan must welcome statement of Iran’s supreme leader denouncing Indian oppression in Kashmir.
