ISLAMABAD: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai Tuesday lamented that democracy has never been allowed to flourish in the country. The PkMAP chief was speaking in Roze News program Sachi Baat with Sardar Khan Niazi.
Achakzai said that stopping the path of those elected by the public through the use of ballot is ‘dangerous’. The leader hailing from Balochistan said that although we are ‘poor and weak’ but we have self respect.
Achakzai said that he had told former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that if the ‘two Sharif’s’ remain on one page the system will continue to work seamlessly. He added that I promised Nawaz Sharif that in case the system is not allowed to work, I will stand with the ‘civilian Sharif’.
Commenting on the Kashmir issue, Achakzai said that the issue should be resolved as per the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He went on to say that even if Kashmiris want a separate country it is their due right.
The PkMAP leader condemned the statement of former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in which he had declared former Malir SSP Rao Anwar a ‘brave boy’.
Achakzai also criticized intelligence agencies, commenting that intelligence agencies should not meddle in political matters. He asked all stakeholders to come together and work for the betterment and prosperity of the country.
