Will save institutions after coming to power: Imran
KARACHI: Television personality and politician Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at a joint press conference with the party chief, Imran Khan, in Karachi on Monday.
The announcement was made after PTI leader Imran Ismail confirmed on Saturday that Hussain will join the party. The latter will announce his membership at a news conference with Imran Khan, he had said while speaking to a private TV channel.
Addressing today’s press conference flanked by Khan, Hussain claimed that the PTI will clean sweep the forthcoming general elections from Karachi.
“It feels as if I was already a part of the PTI … this party is my final destination,” said the former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader. “I have not joined [Imran] Khan but I have joined Pakistan, our joint fight will be against corruption,” he added.
Speaking at the press conference, the PTI chief said that Aamir Liaquat represented the ‘youth of Karachi’.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said on Monday that the political party would save state institutions after coming to power following General Elections 2018.
PTI chairman addressed a political rally in Karachi and branded former premier Nawaz Sharif, Punjab chief minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari corrupt politicians.
He said that PTI has vowed to defeat corrupt lawmakers in the coming elections. The nation is turning poorer while the leaders are becoming richer, he said. PTI chairman added that corruption was the biggest reason for inflation. Corruption is ‘eating the country away like termites’, Khan said.
He said that a common Pakistani was indebt worth at least Rs 1,30,000. ‘Thieves’ steal labourers’ hard earned money making them poorer, he added. PTI chief urged the youth to join his movement against corruption and for a better Pakistan. NNI/Agencies
